Rocky Mountain Theatre For Kids is always seeking seeking staff. Please see below for current positions available.

  • A pre-requisite for all teaching positions is a B.A. and two years of teaching experience with children in the specialty (dance, voice, etc.) for which you are applying. This does not apply to internships or production staff positions (lights, sound, sets, etc). Ocassionally, we will hire precocious, charismatic, and experienced pre college graduates.

  • Preference given to local candidates & those considering a permanent move to the Denver/Boulder area, although all candidates may be considered.

PRODUCTION INTERNS - ASM & Dance Captain
Get great theater experience and GET PAID. We're looking for an Assistant Stage manager/intern and Dance Captain for our upcoming production of Peter Pan. Rehearsals are M, W, F 4:30-8:30pm starting Jan 9 in Boulder and run T, Th 4-8pm, Sun 2-6pm in Denver starting Feb 7 . PAYS $300 upon recommendation of the director and LOOKS GREAT ON YOUR RESUME.

LIGHTING DESIGNERS & BOARD OPERATORS (Boulder & Denver)

Seeking technically savvy individuals who have experience creating and implementing light design and running a computerized light board for multiple shows.

SALARY: $800-$1000/show run

All positions, except for production staff, are full time and require full commitment during period of employment.

1. Directors (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
This position involves a tremendous amount of responsibility and is for someone who has previously directed children's theatre productions with large scale production elements (sets, lights, sound, costumes, makeup, etc). Managing staff, maintaining positive parent contact, creating and maintaining efficient rehearsal schedules, camper group management, strong organizational skills, as well as the commitment to manifest a strong creative vision for the production is important. Creative process training as well as personal performing arts experience is valuable. SALARY: $2200-$3000 / 4 week camp DOE

2. Musical Directors/Accompanists (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
Seeking experienced vocal artists with a background in musical theater to arrange and teach vocal parts, provide proper voice technique, and assist students ages 8-16 in creating dynamic and interesting musical pieces. This position involves working closely with the director to assist in implementing the creative vision for each show. A passion for theater and for kids is essential as well as the enthusiasm to be in a co-creative role with the director. The ability to work well with other members of the artistic staff is crucial, as you will be working intimately with the choreographer and director. Must be comfortable working with large numbers of kids and must have group teaching experience! Piano skills are preferred! This is a position for anyone interested in getting creative with the students and giving them, beyond anything else, a love for the sound of their voice! SALARY: $2000-$2800 / 4 week camp DOE

3. Choreographers (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
We are seeking trained and skilled dancers with children's teaching experience in musical theatre to co-create and implement simple yet artful choreography and teach it to beginner through advanced students. This position would also assist the director in implementing the creative vision for each show. A passion for theater and for kids is essential as well as the enthusiasm to be in a co-creative role with the director. Experience in any of the following diverse dance genres such as: modern, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, African, folk or Latin would be helpful. Applicant should be comfortable planning a curriculum and teaching dance classes. Skills in basic acting and character building are helpful. SALARY: $2000-$2800 / 4 week camp DOE

4. Stage Managers (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
Seeking experienced stage managers who are extremely organized and enjoy working with kids. The stage manager will do the following: assist director as needed, facilitate warm-ups and rehearsal, teach class: improv, basic acting, maintain production book as resource for actors and designer, create weekly newsletters with director, run or block scenes as needed, work closely with director to achieve a productive rehearsal environment. SALARY: $2000-$2800 / 4 week camp DOE

5. Directors (Boulder & Denver Younger Company)
Seeking individuals who are very experienced with kids ages 5-8, putting up age appropriate theater productions. Must have a deep knowledge of the age group and the ability to hold a strong container and be playful as well, while putting on a dynamic and creative final 25-30 minute production. SALARY: $15-$20/hour DOE

6. Choreographers (Boulder & Denver Younger Company)
Seeking dynamic choreographers experienced with teaching kids ages 5-8 basic and artful dance routines. The ability to be playful, engage kids, and get results are important.
SALARY: $15-$18/hour DOE

7. Music Directors (Boulder & Denver Younger Company)
Seeking music directors with experience teaching kids ages 5-8 songs and basic vocal technique. Basic ability to accompany on the piano is required. SALARY: $15-$18/hour DOE

8. Set Designers/Builders (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
Seeking creative individuals to design and build colorful and versatile sets for our year round shows. Knowing how to work within budget is crucial! This position would involve working with students and parents during Community Build Days as well as planning all aspects of the set build in order to meet strict timelines. Previous set design experience is required. SALARY: $800-$1500 DOE and Position

9. Lighting Designers and Board Operators (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
Seeking technically savvy individuals who have experience creating and implementing light design and running a computerized light board for multiple shows. .

10. Sound Designers and Board Operators (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
Seeking technically savvy individuals who have experience creating and implementing sound design and running sound for multiple shows. . SALARY: $600-$800 DOE

11. Costumers (Boulder & Denver Older & Younger Company)
Seeking experienced and highly creative costumers who can handle large scope costume jobs (sometimes up to 80 costumes or more per Older Company show or 20-25 costumes per Younger Company Show) on their own or a small team. This position requires significant design and build experience for a highly organized person. SALARY: $300-$1400 DOE and Position

12. Extended Arts Teachers (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
Seeking dynamic, experienced teachers with specialized skills (stage combat, magic, improv, puppetry, tv acting, improv, circus skills, etc) to teach 1.5 hour workshops to students in the morning or afternoon. The ability to stay on your toes and engage many students in a shifting environment, as students trickle in and out of class based on rehearsal schedule.SALARY: $20-$25/hour DOE

13. INTERNS (Boulder & Denver Older Company)
Ideal for high school and college aged students, seeking to build their resume, get letters of recommendation, and get great theater experience on the teaching and production side. A small stipend of $200-$300 is paid for 4 week camps. Experience with kids is ideal.
