- A pre-requisite for all teaching positions is a B.A. and two years of teaching experience with youth in the specialty (dance, voice, etc.) for which you are applying. This does not apply to internships or production staff positions (lights, sound, sets, etc). Occasionally, we will hire precocious, charismatic, and experienced college students.
- Preference given to local candidates & those considering a permanent move to the Denver/Boulder area, although all candidates may be considered.

- Download questionnaire and complete questionnaire (for teaching positions only).
- For teaching artists (director, music director, choreographer, stage manager, etc) if available, forward in body of your email YouTube links to videos of you teaching and/or shows you’ve worked on. This will give you an advantage over other candidates.
- For production designers (sets, lights, costumes, makeup, etc), send by email photos or links to photos or videos of your work. DO NOT send more than 10mb of photos in one email; it will be rejected.
- Return questionnaire with a cover letter and resume to carrie@theaterforkids.net with the Subject Line saying Title of Job/s (i.e. director, choreographer, etc.) and if applying for Boulder and/or Denver.

SUMMER CAMP POSITIONS – OLDER COMPANY (CAMPERS AGES 8-17)
Local candidates and those considering a permanent move to the Denver/Boulder area are preferred; outstanding out of town candidates are given full consideration.
Music Director
We are seeking experienced music directors with a background in musical theatre for the summer season. Ideal candidates should have at minimum a BA and two years of experience teaching within the 8-16 age range. Music directors need to be able to teach vocal parts, provide proper voice technique, and assist students in creating dynamic and interesting musical pieces. These camps are fast-paced and put on full productions within 2-4 weeks. The ability to work closely with the director and choreographer is crucial, and candidates must be comfortable working with large groups of children. Music directors are expected to accompany the shows as well as rehearsals, so strong piano skills are required. This is a full-time summer position.
Choreographer
We are seeking experienced choreographers with a background in musical theatre for the summer season. Ideal candidates should have at minimum a BA and two years of experience teaching within the 8-16 age range. Choreographers work closely with the director to co-create and implement simple yet artful choreography and teach it to students of all skill levels. A diverse background in dance technique is helpful. Technique styles can include, but are not limited to: modern, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, African, folk, or Latin. These camps are fast-paced and put on full productions within 2-4 weeks. The ability to work closely with the director and music director is crucial, and candidates must be comfortable working with large groups of children. This is a full-time summer position.
Stage Manager
We are seeking experienced stage managers with a background in musical theatre for the summer season. Ideal candidates should have at minimum a BA and experience working with the 8-16 age range. Experience working on large-scale productions is required. These camps are fast paced and put on full productions with light, sound, set, costumes and make-up within 2-4 weeks. Stage managers must be extremely organized and will be responsible for the following: assist the director when needed, facilitate rehearsals, maintain production book as resource for staff and designers, create weekly newsletters with director, run or block scenes as needed, work closely with director to create rehearsal schedule and scene breakdown from script, track spending and keep production budgets and assist with technical staff, help manage children during camp days and maintain a productive rehearsal environment.
Extended Arts Teacher (Boulder & Denver)
We are seeking dynamic and engaging teachers to teach approximately 2 hour workshops during the camp day, typically 11:15am-1pm and/or 2-3:45pm. This is a great fit for a performing arts teacher who has the ability to be on his/her toes and deliver engaging workshops to students who are not required during a rehearsal period. Skills in acting, improvisation, puppetry, stage combat, mask work, and more make for exciting extended arts workshops. This is a part-time position.

These camps are fast-paced and produce final productions within 1-3 weeks. This position involves a tremendous amount of responsibility, and candidates should be well-organized and comfortable managing staff, maintaining parent contact, communicating clearly with the production team, and committing to a strong creative vision for each show. Creative process training as well as personal performing arts experience is a plus. This is a full-time summer position.
Music Director
We are seeking experienced music directors with a background in musical theatre for the summer season. Ideal candidates should have at minimum a BA and two years of experience teaching within the 5-9 age range. Music directors need to able to teach vocal parts, provide proper voice technique, and assist students in creating dynamic and interesting musical pieces. These camps are fast-paced and produce final productions within 1-3 weeks. The ability to work closely with the director and choreographer is crucial, and candidates must be comfortable working with large groups of children. Basic piano skills are required to accompany for rehearsal and the final performances. This is a full-time summer position.
Choreographer

SUMMER CAMP PRODUCTION DESIGNER POSITIONS

Costume Designer/Builder
We are seeking experienced, highly organized costumers for the summer season. A passion for theatre is essential, as well as the enthusiasm to be in a co-collaborative role with the production team. Summer camp shows are fast-paced and put on full productions within 2-4 weeks. Candidates must be comfortable with large scale costume jobs—sometimes up to 80 or more costumes per show. This position requires significant design and build experience, and costumers will be expected to oversee and manage one or more assistant stitchers. The ability to work closely with the director and stage manager is crucial. Costumers are also expected to work backstage as wardrobe head during the shows. Must be comfortable working with large numbers of children. This position is part-time.
Scenic Designer/Builder
We are seeking experienced, highly organized set designers and builders for the summer season. A passion for theatre is essential, as well as the enthusiasm to be in a co-collaborative role with the production team. Summer camp shows are fast-paced and put on full productions within 2-4 weeks. This position requires significant design and build experience, and the designer will be expected to utilize and manage one or more assistants/interns. The ability to work closely with the director/stage manager and knowing how to work within a budget is crucial. Several productions will require a set to be transported/adjusted for both the Boulder stage and the Denver stage. This position is part-time.
Prop Designer/Builder
We are seeking experienced, highly organized prop designers for the summer season. A passion for theatre is essential, as well as the enthusiasm to be in a co-collaborative role with the production team. Summer camp shows are fast-paced and put on full productions within 2-4 weeks. Props designers must design, create, assemble, and transport all props. The ability to work closely with the director/stage manager and knowing how to work within a budget is crucial. This position is part-time.
Lighting Designer/Board Op
We are seeking experienced, highly organized lighting designers/board operators for the summer season. A passion for theatre is essential, as well as the enthusiasm to be in a co-collaborative role with the production team. Summer camp shows are fast-paced and put on full productions within 2-4 weeks. Candidates must have experience creating and implementing light design and running light boards for multiple shows. Designers will be expected to run the board for each show they design. Electrician skills are a plus. The ability to work closely with the director and stage manager is crucial. Must be comfortable working near large numbers of children. This position is part-time.
Sound Designer/Board Op
We are seeking experienced sound designers/board operators for the summer season. A passion for theatre is essential, as well as the enthusiasm to be in a co-collaborative role with the production team. Summer camp shows are fast-paced and put on full productions within 2-4 weeks. Candidates must have experience creating and implementing sound design, running sound cues for multiple shows, and mixing live musicians/microphones. Designers are required to run the sound board for their assigned shows. The ability to troubleshoot sound/mix issues is crucial. Must be comfortable working with large numbers of children. This position is part-time.
Make-Up/Hair Designer
We are seeking experienced make-up/hair designers for the summer season. A passion for theatre is essential, as well as the enthusiasm to be in a co-collaborative role with the production team. Must have theatrical design experience. For their assigned shows, designers are expected to manage and oversee make-up application for 50-60 kids with the assistance of parent volunteers. Summer camp shows are fast-paced and put on full productions within 2-4 weeks. Must be comfortable working with large numbers of children. This position is part-time.

In-Camp Internships
We are seeking energetic, proactive interns to assist with the summer camps & shows. A passion for theatre is essential, as well as the enthusiasm to work with young performers. Camp interns are an essential part of the camp staff team. Responsibilities will include: assisting the production team as necessary, leading group theatre and team-building games when needed, reviewing learned materials with campers during down time, assisting in the general management of campers during rehearsals and breaks. Responsibilities can also be adjusted to fit an intern’s specific skill set or interests. Camp Interns are expected to work backstage during camp shows. The Camp Internships pay $50/week. College credit and references for the internship can be provided upon request.
Costume Internships
We are seeking energetic, proactive interns to assist with building costumes for the summer season. Previous experience with hand & machine sewing is required. Costume interns will work closely with the costume designer and will be expected to assist primarily in building and altering costume pieces for the summer productions. Interns may also be asked to assist in taking measurements, conducting costume fittings, and running wardrobe for shows. These responsibilities will be discussed and agreed upon with the costumer once the internship has begun. Hours of work will also be decided at that time. Costume Interns will receive a small stipend after the close of each assigned show. College credit and references for the internship can be provided upon request.
Scenic Construction Internships
We are seeking energetic, proactive interns to assist with set construction for the summer season. Previous experience with construction & building set pieces preferred, but not required. Set interns will work closely with the scenic designer and will be expected to assist primarily in building and painting sets. Interns may also be asked to assist in loading/unloading & moving sets between the Boulder/Denver locations, breaking apart the set during strike, etc. These responsibilities will be discussed and agreed upon with the scenic designer once the internship has begun. Hours of work will also be decided at that time based on the scenic designer’s schedule. Scenic Interns will receive a small stipend after the close of each assigned show. College credit and references for the internship can be provided upon request.
